The recorded history of the journey of the Ebys to America begins in Switzerland.
As with many who made the journey to our country, the reason was to escape religious persecution by the state held religion of Roman Catholicism, which in those days could include the attrocities of imprisonment, torture and even death.
That persecution would follow them as they migrated across the country of Switzerland into other countries like Germany and Prussia.
Bartlis Aebi was a noted member of the Catholic community and town council of Oberbuchsiten, Canton* Solothurn, Switzerland.
