General Affidavit

State of Maryland
County of Baltimore

In the matter of application of Zachariah alban for Pension for service War 1812 No. 33,236

Personally came before me a Clerk of the Circuit court in and for aforesaid County and State Zachariah alban , said claimant.
well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows:

That in relation to the communication from the pension commissioner dated June 12th 1879 he did not know or remember about whether his mother received a land warrant or not until after the receipt of that communication, when he consulted his brother Henry Alban on that subject and the information from said Henry Alban is embodied in said Henry Alban's affidavit herewith filed.

That the mother of the deponent was living with another brother some five or six miles from this deponent at the time and for quite a number of years previous to obtaining said land warrant as testified to by said Henry Alban.

That he is unable to learn who was the officer before whom she executed her application.

Thinks that her PO address at the time must have ? ? Hampstead.

In relation to the communication dated June 16th 1879 deponent says that he does not remember having made a sworn statement for any claim and for bounty land to the effect that George alban his father served in person in said Cpt Lawson and Stockdale companies for the same period of service that he is now making claim for pension.

That if he did it was true to a great extent and the explanation is this:
Deponent entered the service as a substitute for his father George alban in Capt Lawson's company and it was not more than a day or two until the members of said Lawson's company were turned over and mustered into Cpt Stockdale's company and it was not two weeks or more after his father returned home until said George Alban was preped into the service and was put into Stockdale's company where he remained until we were both discharged.

That deponent being sixteen years of age could have left as soon as his father was brought back but did not do it preferring to serve until discharge.

That deponent never knew or heard of any other Zachariah Alban except himself until he had a son whom he gave the name , who is about 40 years of age. Were two of the name but of the young generation.
